This week saw the passing of one of the four Shitenno, Koichi Oguri. He had trained in the Bujinkan for over 40 years and was one of Hatsumi Sensei’s first students.
I did not know him particularly well, but had the pleasure of training at his classes a number of times and also had the honour of being partnered up for part of one of Soke’s lessons. He was a kind person who would help you learn if you simply had good manners and took the time to observe and practice what he was trying to convey.
He will be greatly missed not only by his family but by the Bujinkan community as a whole.
